Scotland goes "all in"Reader submitted
"The new Scottish Government's 2020 renewable electricity target has been raised to 100 per cent", First Minister Alex Salmond said today as he pledged to move "still faster and further" to secure Scotland's place as the green energy powerhouse of Europe.
In contrast, "enough is enough" says Conservative UK Energy Minister John Hayes about the building of onshore wind farms in Britain. Writes Andrew Simms, climate author and activist, "It makes you wonder where else in energy policy he might consider enough to be enough: the accumulation of hazardous, long-term radioactive waste from nuclear power, for example, or the build-up of life-threatening greenhouse gases in the atmosphere from the burning of fossil fuels?"
